Every year for Valentine’s Day, I put together these adorable love boxes for my husband and daughter.
The boxes themselves are very inexpensive and can be used again year after year.
I buy things sporadically so I’m not paying a lot at one time. I find cute little things I know they will like. Luckily for me, both of my loves have a sweet tooth. So candy is always a must.
Mya is much easier to shop for then my husband. So for her beauty products are always a win. I knew there were a few things she wanted so I was able to grab those for her. For my husband, he practically lives in his truck for work, so I grabbed him some beef jerky and scratch offs. He also, just got a brand new Harley Davidson so I picked up some cute Harley things for him. I knew I couldn’t go wrong with that.
These boxes are so cute and personalized. I hope it shows that I love them and am always thinking of them.
Living in Wisconsin, we spend most of our time trapped inside. The weather in the Midwest usually determines our plans.
My husband and I said that 2020 we were going to make more of an effort to spend quality time together. But planning anything with an unpredictable Mother Nature is hard. To help out I made a list of my top 35 Winter Date Ideas.
I tried to find things that were a mix of outside/inside and free/inexpensive. Pick out a few that you’d want to do and add them to your calendar. Do not cancel on yourself, make it a priority. You will not be disappointed, and will love making these memories.

If you think of anything else that would be fun to do for a Winter date idea, comment below. I’d love to know.
For this shoot, it was my first time working with a new photographer Alaxandra from (@TheWildAuthentic on Instagram). I’ll add her website below. She was absolutely amazing to work with. She made me feel super pretty. I let her know my insecurities right away and she went out of her way to make sure I loved all the pictures. I highly recommend calling her and setting up a shoot!!
December 1st our little family left on a last minute vacation to Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
After a rough few months prior, we decided to escape reality and clear our heads. It’s exactly what we all needed.
We stayed at The Fives in Playa del Carmen. We stayed here once before in 2017, and wanted to come back.
The food was a huge reason for wanting to return. I’m in love with churros and where else can you get good authentic churros? Mexico of course. Mya’s favorite was the chocolate lava cake with ice cream and dad of course loved the brownie and ice cream.
Every restaurant we ate at was so good. The waiters were so polite and gave excellent recommendations. We always left with full bellies. Even Mya (who is a somewhat picky eater) always found something and ate it all.
This trip we really focused on relaxing and spending time together. My husband and I own our own businesses and Mya is a busy lady herself, so hanging out just the three of us was essential. We’ve always traveled with other people or just my husband and I. Mya is only getting older and growing up so fast so this time with her is priceless.
The Fives has so many pools that we wanted to hang out at a new one everyday. Almost all of them had bars super close, which was a bonus.
Since we were all in super chill mode, we decided to skip an excursion and do a spa day instead. I must say it was the best decision we made. Mya had never had a message before so it was perfect. Plus, the spa had an amazing deal, so it was too good to pass up.
With no plans we had the leisure to do whatever we wanted, when we wanted.
Two of the days we spent down by the ocean. Since we escaped Wisconsin to get ocean therapy we wanted to soak up all the sunshine and the sounds of the beach.
Since 2017, The Fives is a time share resort as well as a all inclusive resort. I did notice that if you weren’t a member the service wasn’t as great. We waited a while for the shuttles to go to back and forth to the beach or restaurants by the beach. I also, felt like there wasn’t enough staff/waiters walking around taking orders. As a bar owner, my biggest pet peeve is when you order a cocktail from someone and it tastes totally different from some one else. And that happened quite a bit with a simple mojito. I know, these are hardly real problems but I wanted to share for anyone looking to go and so they can plan ahead for them.
Pro-tip: we always bring our own cups, usually a yeti 20oz cup to keep our drinks cold and you don’t have to order as often. They generally serve in small plastic cups.
This is what my family needed. We officially booked our family vacation to South Padre Island for May. This is one we go with my whole family. Should be one for the books.
Have you been to South Padre Island? Comment below place we must go or see!
This past Thanksgiving my mom got engaged. So let the planning begin. As the oldest daughter (with better taste, I may add lol) I am so excited to help her plan everything from her bridal shower to the wedding.
With planning comes the invites to everything. But I found the perfect company to work with for the most beautiful wedding invitation designs. Basic Invite is completely customizable and are mobile friendly. Being able to upload our own pictures and to chose from over 180 different colors makes them perfect for my mom to choose the perfect invite.
Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers almost an unlimited color options with an instant preview online. You can design the cards exactly how you’d like them by being able to change each color element. You can change anything down to the very last detail. Which sets Basic Invite apart from many other stationary companies.
As of now, my mom isn’t set on the exact style she wants for her wedding. Basic Invite allows customers the ability to order a print sample of their invitation so my mom can see exactly how her invite will look and feel before she places her final order.
Another very neat thing that Basic Invite offers is 40 different color options for your envelopes. I told my mom to have it stand out right away before anyone even opens it. Plus, all the envelopes are peel and seal, so don’t need to spend extra time licking each individual envelope. Who has time for that?
Basic Invite has thought of it all so you don’t have to worry about missing or forgetting anything. Each invite is part of a set. They have all the wedding stationery that you will need from the invitation to the thank you cards afterwards.
To also save my mom time Basic Invite also has a FREE address collection service to request addresses of guests by sharing a link via social media and email. So you collect the addresses and get FREE envelope printing. How cool is that? It beats calling every single person when there is so much more you can focus on.
Browsing BasicInvite.com, the Seal & Send Wedding Invitations caught my moms eye. There are over 30 different designs that are also completely customizable, they also include the ever popular foil options. Seal & Sends the guests names are printed on the front of each invitation so no envelope needed. Then you add postage, fold your invites, and secure them with a sticker. The RSVP postcard is already attached to the invite, guests simply tear off and mail in. Super simple and different.
One stop shopping for sure when it comes to all your wedding stationery. They have thought of everything, which allows you to focus on the most important thing: the food. Just kidding, but it’s one less stress you need to worry about.
You can check there out here. Or visit them on social media @basicinvite.
I love sharing things with my followers that will simplify their lives. Tag me on Instagram @ambur.a.vance with your Basic Invite design, I’d love to see it.
I’ve never attended a Wine & Paint party and wanted to host a girls night. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone and host my very own ‘GNO – Wine & Paint party.’
I went with rainbow theme for the Paint part of the party. I thought it was perfect and easy to do. I’ve also been one to focus on the details, which to me always elevates a party.
They say love is in thedetails.
I thought it would be cute to use wine corks as part of the placement cards to tie both wine & paint in. (Thank you Amy, who donated the corks to me.)
How can you have a Wine & Paint party without WINE. I bought many different types. I figured we can sample many of them since there were many of us.
I have never made a charcuterie board before but I thought about what pairs the best with wine, CHEESE.
I thought they turned out amazing a) for not being sponsored and b) never doing one before.
All in all, I received lots of compliments. I love hosting parties. I can’t wait to host my next one. Who knows what it will be, but I’ll share it when I do.
For as long as I can remember, Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. It’s my favorite because I always get to see family I don’t see often, I love to eat, and it feels like the kick off to Christmas.
The older I get the more into Thanksgiving I become because I get to host and cook for it. I love to cook. I will try out new Pinterest recipes and try to get them picture perfect. For the most part I’d give Martha a run for her money.
Here are some of my favorite traditions :
1) Family – My family has always been the most important thing to me and spending time with them is the best. We laugh and we cry, but most of all we have a ball. Literally just hanging out either playing games like spades or dominoes. Some watch football and other just relax and enjoy each other’s company.
2) Food – I know, Thanksgiving is a lot about the traditional feast. Everyone once and a while, we switch it up and add a Mexican flare to ours. Enchiladas, chimichangas, and rice & beans. Yum! We still have most of the traditional foods when you think of Thanksgiving. It’s nice to make it our own.
3) Christmas Parade – For almost my entire adult life I’ve been attending the Grafton Thanksgiving/Christmas parade. This is generally the Saturday after Thanksgiving. My daughter for the last 7 years have been in the parade either for Girl Scouts or Cheerleading.
We also watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade on TV on Thanksgiving. Seeing all the floats and huge balloons is always so exciting.
4) Thankful Game: When I would host I’d buy a banner that was blank to fill out and ask everyone to take one and write down something they are thankful for. Then we’d hang it up and read them. It’s fun to see what everyone would write.
Today’s blog post comes to you as a reminder. A reminder that it’s ok to be perfectly imperfect, we are after all human.
I also, wanted to share with you that everything you see on social media is often a misinterpretation of actual life. People do a good job of only posting the positive and good in their lives.
Short story: My husband and I owned a business with our (now ex) best friends. After losing my brother-in-law literally the day after we signed our lease we had to push forward with the business. Shortly after, things started to take a turn for the worst in our friendship. They didn’t care about the huge loss our family suffered from. They were blaming my husband and I for everything with the business. Call us names, attacking our character, and talking about us behind our backs.
It took me a year to realize they had a toxic relationship amongst themselves and tried to take it out on us.
Mr. will post on FB daily positivity videos and only care about the view count. Mrs. plans trips with friends A) that she talk crap about B) so she can make money off of them. It’s sad to see. They have become so greedy and unrecognizable. They have a house addition that has been a few years in the making and a vacation house that they said they bought when it’s really Mr.’s parents. Why do I mention this? Well because; more then money, they care about perception and attention. They want you to see them one way, as perfect. That they don’t make mistakes. Which has got to be hard and so exhausting. No thank you.
The silver lining is they set a daily example of how I do NOT ever want to be.
I want to elaborate on the perfectly imperfect part of this blog post. When I decided I wanted to start blogging, I had so much self doubt. After researching for months, I kept telling myself – I’m too old, I’m overweight, I’m not pretty enough, or that I’m too shy. But then I realized that’s what makes me, ME.
You’ll always have people who like you and people who don’t, that’s just life. When I started this journey, it wasn’t about what other people thought. It was about me and doing what I love.
I enjoy doing photo shoots to get content for my blog and IG. But again, I critique the heck out of them. Like do I look fat, or how many chins do I have?? Then I have to remind myself it’s ok to be perfectly imperfect.
At the end of the day, I have an amazing family, loving friends, and a sexy husband who loves me for me. Nothing else matters. So, I will always try to keep it real with my following, and stick to being authentic with a hint of Facetune lol.
Lastly, as hard as it is don’t beat yourself up. Be yourself! That is your greatest power. You don’t have to impress people by being fake. If they don’t love you for you, then they don’t need to be in your life. Perfection is impossible to achieve, and that’s ok.
As an influencer, I try to find fun and affordable fashion. I also, love clothing and accessories that have an amazing cause to support.
•Shopping + supporting a great cause = my jam!
I was introduced to Haiti Mama jewelry line from a friend who travels to Haiti frequently for mission trips. It’s fun to watch her love and passion for this mission show in her pictures and connection with the children. I’m so inspired by her.
Haiti Mama’s mission is simple: Reunite. Rehabilitate. Restore. Haiti Mama works to reunite homeless youth in Haiti with their families, building alternative solutions to institutional care of children. They believe in rehabilitating parents through employment and restoring hope by empowering families.
Job creation is a vital part of the family reunification process! Haiti Mama just launched a gorgeous new line of earrings. Textures of Haiti lightweight tin earrings feature authentic photography of the beautiful island of Haiti. They are designed and cut by Mama Andy and Papa Milo in Haiti. Each pair comes with a postcard that has the full image of the jewelry selected.
My specific earrings come from the Kenscoff Collection. Kenscoff is a city in the mountains outside of Port Au Prince. I am obsessed with these earrings and prints or theee reasons 1) for the cause 2) they look so tropical and 3) super light weight.
Since many of the designs are based on landscape, culture, and art the variety is endless. Check out Haiti Mama on Instagram. Tag me in your pictures when you rock your Haiti Mama jewelry.
My husband and I have been married almost 8 years but have been together 13. Over time you need to put work into your relationship.
I made a list of 5 things you can do to spice up your relationship without making it feel like work.
Your marriage is one of the most important relationships of your life. So, if your marriage is suffering everything else around you seems to suffer.
It’s crucial to take time to nurture your relationship, it’s important to make each other feel loved. Read this and try them out. Ladies, these tips are for you, but men you can do the same. It takes two to tango.
5 tips to Spice up yourMarriage.
1) Send him a text – Sometimes it’s a sexy picture, other times it’s a text letting him know you appreciate him. Either way it shows you are thinking of him. Sending him a sexy picture while he’s working is a cute little tease to remind him what he comes home too.
2) Ditch the sweats – When you go to bed wear something sexy. Even if you have kids it’s ok, throw a robe on. Here in Wisconsin, it gets cold but that gives you more reason to snuggle not to put more on.
3) Shower Date – Being vulnerable with your bodies will provide a great connection. This is one of my favorite dates. You escape from T.V.s and cell phones. It’s just you two making it steamy.
4) PDA – So don’t be that couple that needs to get a room but hold hands, kiss each other, touch his butt. Let everyone around you know you’re in to each other. It’s romantic. If you go out to dinner play footsie. Have fun with it.
5) Communication – Cliché, I know but for real. You need to talk about likes/dislikes in the bedroom. Share your fantasies with each other. Try them out. Be open minded and non-judgmental. He’s your husband, you don’t need to be shy or embarrassed.
Remember when you first met? You have all those feelings and butterflies, well that doesn’t need to stop. Time should only make you feel more comfortable in your relationship.
I hope that you try these out. Put an effort into your marriage. My best marriage tip of all: if you have to fight, fight naked! I hope that put a smile on your face. Good luck babe!
