Thanksgiving Traditions

For as long as I can remember, Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. It’s my favorite because I always get to see family I don’t see often, I love to eat, and it feels like the kick off to Christmas.

The older I get the more into Thanksgiving I become because I get to host and cook for it. I love to cook. I will try out new Pinterest recipes and try to get them picture perfect. For the most part I’d give Martha a run for her money.

Here are some of my favorite traditions :

1) Family – My family has always been the most important thing to me and spending time with them is the best. We laugh and we cry, but most of all we have a ball. Literally just hanging out either playing games like spades or dominoes. Some watch football and other just relax and enjoy each other’s company.

2) Food – I know, Thanksgiving is a lot about the traditional feast. Everyone once and a while, we switch it up and add a Mexican flare to ours. Enchiladas, chimichangas, and rice & beans. Yum! We still have most of the traditional foods when you think of Thanksgiving. It’s nice to make it our own.

3) Christmas Parade – For almost my entire adult life I’ve been attending the Grafton Thanksgiving/Christmas parade. This is generally the Saturday after Thanksgiving. My daughter for the last 7 years have been in the parade either for Girl Scouts or Cheerleading.

We also watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade on TV on Thanksgiving. Seeing all the floats and huge balloons is always so exciting.

4) Thankful Game: When I would host I’d buy a banner that was blank to fill out and ask everyone to take one and write down something they are thankful for. Then we’d hang it up and read them. It’s fun to see what everyone would write.

Shop the Thankful Banner here.

I know my husband and I can not wait for pumpkin pie. Last year I made this delicious Pumpkin Cheesecake recipe. It was so quick and easy.

What are some of your Thanksgiving traditions? When I was a kid we would eat and then go bowling. Maybe that’s something I need to bring back.

Are you cooking or hosting? I have the year off from hosting, but I am in charge of the Cheesy potatoes and spinach artichoke dip.

Have a fantastic Thanksgiving!! I am beyond grateful for all my followers and taking the time out of your day to read my blog!

‘Tis the season to get Cozy

Wisconsin gave us 2.4 seconds of Fall this year, so now we have to dress for the brutal cold here in the Midwest.

This Winter you will see buffalo plaid e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e! So, I found the perfect top that is best of both worlds Sherpa & sweatshirt topped with buffalo plaid.

I paired this half zip Sherpa with Spanx leggings. To dress it up a little I paired it with black OTK boots.

This outfit can be worn casual too, throw on a baseball cap and tennis shoes and run errands.

While shooting, I had the pleasure of seeing the 35th floor Sky Deck and Social Lounge at 7Seventy7, the amenities here are incredible just like the view!! The lounge is available to rent for any of your social events.

This outfit worked well with this lounge, snuggling up to the fireplace or entertaining for the holidays. Check out 7Seventy7 on Instagram here.

What are your Holiday plans? Mine; most importantly, is to hang out with my family. Oh and eat!! I love Holiday food.

Fall in the City

Ok. So we got 5+ inches of snow on Halloween here in Wisconsin. Apparently Mother Nature wants us to skip Fall this year.

Well I’m still going to post about Fall.

Last month, I met up with a few blogger friends for a styled shoot. A picnic in the park with fall foliage added ambiance. The tablescape was perfectly decorated, and the did I mention there was a tree swing?

Yeah! How frickin cute? Not only was this fun to shoot but it was nostalgic to my childhood memories, swinging on my aunt and uncles swing set.

As always, when shooting or writing about fashion I truly try to find the most affordable fashion to share with my followers. This shoot was no exception.

My inspiration for a fall color palette is to look at the changing leaves on a tree. You can’t go wrong.

I went with a long sleeved ribbed mustard yellow A-line dress. I knew I wanted a pop of color so I wore a burgundy bootie and tied the colors in with a blanket scarf.

This dress is a perfect staple for fall fashion. You can add so many accessories to help dress it up or wear it casual. Later on in the shoot, I switched out my scarf for a burgundy teddy/Sherpa jacket. And threw on a pair of cognac colored over the knee boots.

Who doesn’t love a versatile dress that you can transition from fall to winter?

Give em Pumpkin to Talk About…

I’m not sure about you but I love fall & fall fashion, I’ve mentioned it in previous blog posts. I love to celebrate fall until Thanksgiving, then I switch gears to Christmas.

I love this fall outfit. I am wearing a Ribbed open-shoulder sweater in the rust color from Forever 21. Can you believe that it’s under $20?

My jeans are a distressed jegging from Closet Candy Boutique from last year. But I linked a black distressed pair that will work just as well, and they are only $20!!

I accessorized this outfit with a black felt floppy hat and a pair of super cute short rain boots with a bow detail. This $3 necklace adds a little sparkle to complete my outfit.

Since in Wisconsin we did get our first measure-able snow fall the night before these pictures (10/29/19) I brought a suede army green Moto jacket and a neutral scarf to throw on top, since it was chilly.

These pictures we’re taken at Cedarburg Creek Farm where they offer so many fun fall activities like: a petting zoo, pumpkin farm, Free hayrides, corn maze, and more. It’s a fun family friendly place right off HWY 60 in Cedarburg.

Did you make it to a pumpkin farm this year? Did you carve any pumpkins?

Secret of mine… I’ve never ever tried a PSL!!! Crazy, I know. Maybe this will be the year?!?
